This week, I learned that diligence is what will help us complete the project. Authority of a group, as I found out, requires a certain amount of work to keep it. Looks like diligence is importance here.

Next week, I should learn if I could pass a test on CNC after so many long weeks. Currently, I have a high C in this class and I deduce that these come from the quiz grades on the module. One word to describe this module, hard.

How I should learn it? By preparing for it while in the mornings and in class. Hopefully, I could take it by late next week.

Master Project Progress

Over this week, I learned of a man named John Wolfe-Barry and how he created the Tower Bidge in London. I had to learn of Wolfe-Barry as a person that contributed to the design of drawbridges. Tower Bridge was a bascule bridge, but it was close enough.

I hope that I could learn how to use my knowledge of CAD and CNC to design a drawbridge. This project is based of building a small one. I want to be able to make with with what I can do,.

Next week, I can probably do it. I am finished with a research paper on Wolfe-Barry, and everybody will be done with their’s by Monday. On that day we will obtain the materials for making a drawbridge.

Lousy Quiz Score and Coordinate Blues

A few days ago I took a quiz for LAP 2. I got 4 out of 11 wrong. This means that I really need to study when the test is involved.

Then I learned of absolute and incremental coordinates. Absolute is where all coordinates are all set to a 0 value for X, Y, and Z when plotting lines or dots. Incremental is where the coordinates are based on the point that you start with, then the next, and so on (basically, it is based on the last point you were on).

Tooling and PRZ: HOORAY!!

The title was obviously a joke. A while back, I learned about tool selection. I learned that it is based off how the part will be created. Factors like tool diameter, corner radius, etc. are importand to selection.

Then I learned about PRZ, or program reference zero. I learned that to find it, you can either use a tool and go along a side to find the right number for PRZ. I also learned a better way: to use an edgefinder, which we didn’t have anyway.

Die Finished, More to do and such

Good News, I have finished the die I have been working on. I completed and profreeded the 6 programs necesary to create the die. I have completed all 6 sides from the programs as of now.

Then there was a little more. I had to create a program for a piece with wacky shapes on it. I did not manufacture the piece, I just created a program and simulated it to see it it’s right.

No more notes for the module

It seems that I may not be able to take more notes for the module at this point. I am very behind on the module as of now. I will just work on the work that I must do for the module and be sure to probably finish next Tuesday.

The issue may be that I take thourough notes. This may be because I may have acquired a strategy from Economics on taking notes as a whole. What I am doing is of course finding the information and writing most of it on paper.

Another Week of Engineering

This has been another week of engineering, and it is a long one for a short one. I have finished an activity that involves me writing programs into a CNC Programming Software. I even took notes on LAP 1 that same day.

Where I’m at right now is at making a die using a CNC machine. I have created and tested all 6 programs that I will need to use for this assignment. But I need an aluminum cube that I will cerate the die with, and I might get that today.

Second Week of New Module

This week has been a piece of junk due to how I may be doing. I attempted to take notes on LAP 1 but then my partner is in CNC 2, so I don’t know if I have to do all the notes (ay caramba!). Even I messed up on my first LAP Quiz with 9/14 correct.

But at least I got started on the second LAP. There I have learned about program pieces G00 and G01 which determine how the CNC produces a part with a program. Yesterday, I observed C.A. create two sides of a metal di; not that is sweet.

Currently, I am still on CNC and on LAP 1 of that. I have mentioned last time that I have to take notes on the module. It’s most likely that I will take the notes after I finish the LAP and before the quiz.

For the module itself, I have made it to the last section of the 1st LAP. I even done a safety quiz within the LAP for working at a CNC mill, and I passed on my second time. I have finished a skill where I identify the mills that I use to create blocks in the machine, where I measure diameter and determine if it’s either right-hand or left-hand.

New Week, New Module

Today is officially my second day doing CNC. Yesterday did not cound because school was closed due to flooding. I am sure we have to take notes on the module this time.

There are many basics that i’ve learned for doing CNC. One example is the ability to create a program and simulate it to see if there are errors. Currently, I am working on a skill concerning simulation and error check.
